Interactive Maps!

We have always had a schedule of stations and places where the Search program is broadcast in our newsletter.  A few months ago we asked the question: What if those locations were available on our website?  What if people could easily find the program on air while they were traveling or find a church to attend in a strange town?  How about a way to tell a family member or friend about the program or a church in their town?

The answer to all of these questions was an interactive map.  Brian and I have created, with the help of some other staff members here, two separate maps one detailing the locations of stations, broadcast and cable, that air the program and the other map showing the location of churches of Christ that support us.  Each map shows the location with the "pins" that you may already be familiar with from Google maps.  Each pin contains as much information as we have on file here, and we could use your help to keep that information updated.  (More on that later in the post)

On the TV station map (shown here) we have included the Station ID, Channel #, Market (area) the station covers and the air day/time.

We still have a lot of information to gather on many church locations.  Some locations will not have all of the information we wish to provide.

Wherever possible; on the churches map we have included:
  • Congregation Name
  • Street Address
  • Phone Number
  • Worship Times for Sunday and Midweek
  • Website (with link) where Applicable
  • The Local Station That Airs the Search Program
We believe this tool will be a great help in both telling others about the reach that Search has in the U.S. and the World, and promoting the Gospel message to some that might not otherwise hear it.

As you may have already guessed this has been a monumental task.  There is a lot of information that has been compiled and placed into code and has taken a team effort to complete.  This is where we need your help.  If you attend one of the churches on the map, or watch the program on one of the stations that we have listed, and you notice that there is information that needs to be corrected, please let us know about it.  We have included a form on our website for you to send us that information.  We have noticed that some of the GPS coding is slightly off from actual location.  Sending us complete addresses is essential to getting the information corrected.  Also, we know that churches at times will change meeting times or even locations.  There is no way we can keep up with all this data without your help.  So please take some time to look over the new maps, tell your friends about it, and if necessary take a moment to help us keep up with the changing information.

Check it out now on our homepage www.searchtv.org just follow the link at the top: "Church and Station Map/TV Schedule."  The information page that brings up will give you links to both maps and also to a printable schedule for your use.

Thanks, and God Bless,
